Trello vs NetSuite: Which Is best for your workflow?

Using Trello but considering NetSuite? Here’s how one company switched to Kanban in their ERP – and gained full control.

A few days ago, I – Daniel Remming, received an interesting question from a company exploring our services:

“Could we replace our current workflow in Trello with a Kanban board directly in NetSuite?”

It’s a common question among companies juggling multiple tools for different purposes – none of which truly connect with their ERP system.

My answer? Absolutely – and it actually gets better when everything is integrated in NetSuite.

From trial to decision in just a few days

Step 1: From need to prototype

To provide a clear answer, I asked the client to share a list of the statuses they used in Trello, along with the fields on their cards. With that information, I got to work.

I created a new custom record in NetSuite, using the appropriate fields and a status list that mirrored their Trello columns. Then, I configured a Kanban Board using SuiteCorner’s NetSuite add-on. My goal was to recreate their existing workflow as closely as possible – but now fully inside NetSuite.

Step 2: Demo, feedback, and decision

Just two days later, the prototype was ready for a live demo. We reviewed the workflow together, discussed a few refinements, and after a short meeting, the decision was made.

This fall, they’ll be leaving Trello behind and moving their entire workflow into NetSuite.

Trello to NetSuite

Trello-style Kanban Board – Now built into NetSuite.

Why switch from Trello to NetSuite?

🔍 Searchable data – no more switching between tools
Reminders and automation – NetSuite works proactively
📊 Reports and analytics – better insights and tracking
📦 All-in-one system – structure, control, and peace of mind

What we learned

This case shows how quickly a decision can happen when the possibilities are clearly visualized.

Trello is a great tool – but when you want full data control, smarter workflows, and fewer tools to manage, NetSuite becomes a powerful alternative.
